What is the difference between steel cage bearing and brass cage bearing?

The bearing cage refers to the bearing part that partially wraps all or part of the rolling body and moves with it to isolate the rolling body, usually guide the rolling body and keep it in the bearing.

Brass cage bearing

Brass has high tensile strength and is not affected by common bearing lubricants. It is often used in small and medium-sized bearings. However, due to the high price of copper, the price of brass cages is also high. The main features are as follows:

1 Brass cage bearing type: stamping and solid, stamping is only suitable for small and medium;

2 Material: Brass plate, brass casting or brass forging. Brass has high tensile strength, and its mechanical strength is equivalent to that of steel stamping cage, but its density is relatively small and its limit speed is high; the price is higher

3 Brass cage bearing Advantages Performance: not affected by lubricants, including synthetic oils and greases;

4 Restrictions on use: Brass cages cannot be used in situations above 300°C, and are not suitable for ammonia (such as cooling), because ammonia will cause brass to break seasonally;

5 Working temperature: The working temperature is lower than 300°C.

Steel cage bearing:

Due to the characteristics of high strength, good toughness, and easy processing, steel cage materials are widely used in rolling bearings. They are the most common cages on the market and have the following characteristics:

1 Cage type: stamping and solid;

2 Material: steel plate or steel forging;

3 Advantages and performance: This kind of cage has high strength and light material. It is mostly used in deep groove ball bearings, spherical roller bearings and tapered roller bearings, and is generally not affected by mineral oil-based or alkali-containing oil-based lubricants for rolling bearings.

4 Restrictions on use: susceptible to rust due to the influence of water and water vapor;

5. Operating temperature: The operating temperature of the cage can reach 300°C.

For the self alinging roller brass cage bearing ,there are mainly CA type (single body cage) and YA type (split cage) for brass cage, and CC type and E type for steel cage. The main difference is that the material is different, and the manufacturing process is different.
The brass cage is turning and the steel cage is stamping. Finally, the steel cage guides the rollers, while the brass cage does not guide the rollers and only plays the role of isolating the rollers. Now most of the bearings are CC type and E type.
