Ordinary bearings are resistant to high temperatures of 120 degrees Celsius. When working in environments above 120 degrees Celsius for a long time, the metallographic structure of ordinary bearings will change. The lifespan of bearings will be significantly reduced.
GCr15 bearing steel undergoes a special heat treatment method, with a maximum operating temperature of 350 degrees Celsius. However, due to high-temperature tempering during heat treatment, the hardness of the ring will be significantly reduced, and the service life will also be reduced compared to standard bearings. For use under high temperature conditions, special high-temperature resistant bearing steel needs to be selected. The specific needs to be determined based on the working conditions.
3. It should be noted that bearings are not afraid of high temperatures, but of high temperature differences. That is to say, if a good design is carried out (mainly to determine the appropriate bearing working clearance), the bearing can work at 110 degrees Celsius for a long time. However, no bearing can work at temperatures from 40 degrees Celsius to 110 degrees Celsius. In this case, the bearing will experience alternating internal clearances or preloads, causing premature failure of the bearing.
