1.What should pay attention to steering column bearing?
Symptoms of steering column bearing failure:
1. It is difficult to return the steering wheel to its original position;
2. The steering wheel is heavy while other side is light, and the steering gear leaks oil;
3. The steering wheel makes abnormal noise;
4. When the car runs, the wheels shake,and the rolling is not smooth.
2.How to install steering column bearing?
Installation method 1: press fit: when the inner ring of the bearing is tightly fitted with the shaft, and the outer ring is loosely fitted with the bearing housing hole, press the bearing onto the shaft, and then install the shaft and the bearing together into the bearing housing hole. The outer ring of the bearing is closely matched with the hole of the bearing seat. When the inner ring is loosely matched with the shaft, the bearing can be pressed into the hole of the bearing seat first.
Installation method 2: heating fit: heat the bearing or bearing seat and use thermal expansion to change the tight fit into loose fit.
It is a common and labor-saving installation method. This method is suitable for the installation of bearings with large interference. Before hot installation, put the ferrule into the oil tank and heat it evenly at 80-100 ℃, then take it out of the oil and install it on the shaft as soon as possible. The bearing can be tightened axially after cooling.
3.How to maintain steering column bearing?
Lubrication is a good way to maintain bearings, and professional cleaning is also required.
Clean the bearing with detergent or kerosene, and put it in a special container during operation. It is necessary to clean while rotating to avoid damaging the rolling surface of the bearing.
Then add lubricating oil to the bearing and install it back to its original position.
