In the maintenance process, it is often found that some cars have a large driving noise, check the tires for abnormal wear, and turn the wheels on the lift without obvious abnormal noise. This phenomenon is often caused by the abnormal damage of the steering wheel bearing. The so-called abnormal refers to the bearing damage caused by the installation. The front wheel bearing of the car is generally a double-row ball bearing. When installing the bearing, if you use a hammer to knock the installation, or install the bearing by pressing the inner ring of the bearing when installing the bearing into the bearing seat, it will cause one side of the bearing raceway. damage. Noise is generated when the vehicle is driving, and when the wheels are off the ground, there is no obvious noise due to the better side of the raceway. Correct mounting operation is the key to long bearing life.
(1) When checking the tightness of the steering wheel bearing, first erect the axle at one end of the wheel hub of the car to be inspected, and use tools such as workbench and car cover to erect the car firmly.
(2) Rotate the inspection wheel by hand several times to see if the rotation is smooth and if there is any abnormal noise. If the rotation is not smooth and there is friction noise, it means that the braking part is abnormal; if there is no noise, the rotation is not smooth, and the tightness is tight, it means that the steering wheel bearing part is abnormal. When the above abnormal phenomenon occurs, the hub should be disassembled for inspection. For small cars, when checking the steering wheel bearing, hold the upper and lower sides of the tire with both hands, and turn the tire back and forth with both hands, repeating several times. If it is normal, there should be no looseness and blockage; if there is obvious looseness when swinging, the hub should be disassembled for inspection.
(3) Brake inspection. Usually, when checking the steering wheel bearing, also check the wheel brake. If there is oil inside the tire, it is most likely caused by oil leaking from the brake cylinder or brake hose. The cause should be promptly identified and eliminated.
