Transmission ball bearing has two common structures: deep groove ball and angular contact ball. To understand the application of these two types of bearings in transmissions, we should first understand the transmission.
A transmission, also known as a gearbox, is a mechanism used to change the speed and torque from the engine. It can fix or shift the transmission ratio of the output shaft and input shaft. The transmission consists of a variable transmission mechanism and a control mechanism. There are multiple sets of gear pairs with different transmission ratios in the gearbox, and the shifting behavior of a car during driving is to manipulate the mechanism to make different gear pairs in the gearbox work. At low speeds, let the gear pair with a high transmission ratio work, while at high speeds, let the gear pair with a low transmission ratio work.
To meet different requirements for speed, different types of transmission ball bearing have also emerged.
Transmission Ball Bearing-four point angular contact ball bearing
The inner and outer raceways have a peach shaped cross-section, and when there is no load or pure radial load, the steel ball and the ring present a four point contact.
characteristic:
Detachable structure, single bearing can replace angular contact ball bearings with front or back combination.
It can withstand radial and bidirectional axial loads, limit axial displacement in both directions, and occupy less axial space than double row angular contact ball bearings.
When the radial clearance is the same, the axial clearance is smaller and the limit speed is higher.
Due to being a double half inner ring (or outer ring), the number of balls loaded increases and it has a greater load-bearing capacity.
Under normal working conditions, this type of bearing can form a contact angle when bearing axial load in any direction. The steel ball contacts with the inner and outer raceways at one point to avoid large sliding friction in the contact area.
Transmission Ball Bearing-electric insulation bearing
Electric insulated bearings use a special spraying process to spray oxide ceramic coatings on the outer surface of the bearings. The coating has strong adhesion to the substrate and good insulation performance. It can avoid corrosion of bearings caused by current. It can improve the service life of bearings. It can also protect the bearings from the influence of moisture and moisture.
The application fields include traction motors, electric motors, and generators for railway vehicles.
